Volunteering opportunities in your local community
Volunteering is open to everyone and is something that anyone can do. Whatever your interests, wherever you live, whether you have a lot of time or just a little, you can make a difference to other people's lives.
If you want to make friends, feel useful, put something back into the community, gain a skill or acquire more experience, then volunteering could be just what you are looking for. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, male or female, employed or unemployed, disabled or able bodied, and no matter what your ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation or culture, we can help you find the volunteering opportunities that meet your needs.
Hands & Gillingham Volunteer Centre was established in 1969. It is a registered charity (No. 290169) and is a fully accredited member of Volunteering England. It operates as both a Volunteer Centre, acting as a catalyst between people who want to volunteer and those organisations looking for volunteers, and also runs its own Direct Services, offering a variety of services in the local community, using its own
volunteers to assist elderly, disabled, isolated or otherwise disadvantaged people.
In the words of one our patrons, Rick Wakeman,
Hands & Gillingham Volunteer Centre
'is a small charity that makes a big difference to people's lives'.
